CLEVELAND – Delta State University Lady Statesmen softball head coach Casey Bourgoyne announced the addition of seven signees to the 2009 recruiting class on Wednesday. The bevy of new additions brings this season’s signing class to eight, and the list includes some of the top talent in the state and region. Joining the Lady Statesmen in 2010 includes: Brittany Gonzales (1B/P), Alyssa D’Aurelio (OF), Crista Richard (OF), Kendall Sizemore (C), Taylor Hughes (INF/OF), Anna Wesleigh Riggs (UTL/P), and Alexx Havens (C).

ORLANDO, Fla. - No doubt there are plenty of young basketball players pretending to be Kobe Bryant these days.

They’ll mimic his stop-and-go, versatile drives. They’ll copy his pull-up and fade-away jumpers. They’ll imitate his explosive baseline moves for dunks.

But only one young player gets paid to pretend he’s Kobe: former Mad Ants guard Jeremy Richardson.

CLEVELAND – Devin Goodwin, a four-year starter at shortstop for the Delta State University baseball team, has been named an Honorable Mention All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, as released on Thursday. This week’s announcement culminates one of the greatest careers in Statesmen baseball history for a shortstop.
