DELTA STATE ’S DANA GEORGE TO RECEIVE ALL-AMERICAN FOOTBALL FOUNDATION OUTSTANDING SWA AWARD JACKSON – Delta State University’s Dana George, Assistant Director of Athletics for Development and Senior Women’s Administrator, has been named the recipient of the Outstanding SWA Award, as presented by the All-American Football Foundation. The award will be presented Thursday, May 15 at the 93 rd Banquet of Champions at the Hollywood Resort Hotel in Tunica. George is in her third year as Assistant Athletic Director for Development/Senior Women's Administrator at Delta State University. Her duties as Assistant Director of Athletics include fundraising, Green & White Fund management, advertising sales and athletic promotions. George works closely with the Cleveland community finding sponsors for athletic events and the department as a whole. She also stays in contact with DSU athletics Alumni and coordinates events for former Statesmen and Lady Statesmen athletes. She also serves as the advisor to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Before coming to DSU, George held the position of Assistant Softball Coach at Sam Houston State University from 1998-2001 where she assisted with recruiting and coordinated team travel. After a three year stint at SHSU, George took the position of Head Softball Coach at Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Mo., a position she held from 2001-2004. The Outstanding SWA Award is selected by the awards committee of the AAFF. The AAFF was founded in 1994 and supported by 165 colleges and universities nationwide. The All-American Football Foundation is a private 501c 3 organization established to honor individuals for distinguished contributions to the game of football in all phases of the game. |
