Lady Statesmen Tennis has breakout weekend at ATU

RUSSELLVILLE ARK. - The Delta State University Lady Statesmen tennis team had a solid showing at the second annual Golden Suns Tennis Slam hosted by Arkansas Tech University this past weekend. The Lady Statesmen advanced to the finals in all four singles bracket competitions, as well as the main doubles draw. 

Cecile Benzaki and Katharina Nett advanced to the final in the first flight, but did not play to determine a winner. Milena Araujo and Krystle Ozols also advanced to the final in the second flight, where Araujo defeated her teammate 6-4, 6-4. 

Tatiana Bouchaud advanced to the semi-final in flight three before being defeated and fellow Lady Statesmen Paulina Potapova fell in the final 6-1, 4-6, 6-1. Sophomore Priscila Duarte won flight four by a score of 6-4, 3-6, 10-4. 

The DSU ladies also dominated doubles play with the teams of Ozols/Nett and Benzaki/Bouchaud reaching the finals. Duarte/Potapova also reached the final in the flight two consolation bracket, winning 8-1.
