CLEVELAND- Continuing with the rapid signing of players, coach Mike Kinnison and the Statesmen baseball program landed another gem to the fall signing period in DeSoto Central High School power-hitting first baseman Brent Langston.

In 25 games last year, Brent batted .440 with seven doubles, 13 home runs, and 41 RBI for head coach Shane Faulkner's Jaguars. Those 13 long balls led class 5A last season.

Head coach Faulkner is proud to see his alma mater land such a prized power hitter.

"He is one of the best hitters to come out of DeSoto County," he said. "As a graduate of Delta State I am very proud to see Brent sign with the Statesmen. The University is getting a very talented baseball player, but more importantly a young man who is going to represent the university and the baseball team with class and integrity."
