Lady Statesmen set to compete in NCAA Regionals on Saturday

Coach Doug Pinkerton and the Delta State University Lady Statesmen cross country team have one final chance to continue their season on Saturday, Nov. 7, as they will participate in the NCAA South Regional Cross Country Championships in Tampa.

The 6K course, which is located on the spacious Sydney Dover Trails and 15 miles from the historic University of Tampa campus, will feature over 40 teams from the NCAA's South region.

The top two teams will advance to the 2009 NCAA Cross Country National Championships, hosted by Southern Indiana University, in Evansville, Ind. The top two individuals from non-qualifying teams and all individuals in the top five overall will also advance to nationals.

Senior Kristin Williams will look to lead the Lady Statesmen, as she has been the top finisher in each race this season for Delta State, while several newcomers including freshman Ashley Carrillo continue to build their careers.
