DSU XC Top 10 Finishers
Saturday's top 10 finishers at the DSU XC Invitational were honored after the meet, including DSU's Kristin Williams and Ashley Carrillo.
CLEVELAND – The Delta State Lady Statesmen saw four of their runners record top eight scores to win the women’s team title at the Delta State Cross Country Invitational on Saturday morning.

Delta State runners recorded a score of 33 points to win the team event, only one point ahead of Southern Arkansas, who scored 34 points.

Kristin Williams was the top finisher for Delta State, completing the race with a time of 21 minutes, 58.02 seconds. Williams finished sixth among 31 runners, and second among runners for qualifying squads in team standings.

A total of seven teams participated in the women’s event, but only three teams – Delta State, Southern Arkansas and Christian Brothers – had enough runners finish the event to qualify for the team title.

Delta State’s Ashley Carrillo secured a ninth place finish with a time of 22:41.33, while teammate Dixie Griffin finished two spots behind her with a time of 23:04.29.

Amanda Cornelison finished 14th with a time of 23:30.40 to round out Delta State entrants in the top 15 as well as the top eight official scorers. Elizabeth Fike finished 21st with a time of 24:53.77, followed by teammates Brittany Eikner (22nd, 25:11.35), Cate Rowe (23rd, 25:34.75) and Hend Alboshaba (26:06.15).

Arkansas-Pine Bluff runners Karla Atencio (18:56.82), Monica Carillo (19:26.74) and Ninfa Barnard (19:48.21) claimed first, second and third places respectively among individual finishers. Since they were Pine Bluff’s only entrants in the meet, the squad did not qualify for team title.

In the men’s event, Arkansas-Pine Bluff runners John Bwete (18:57.47) and Charles Johnson (19:15.51) finished one and two, respectively, followed by teammate Moses Alukuyang, who finished fourth with a time of 19:31.97. Christian Brothers University won the men’s team title.

Arlington (Tenn.) High School took the top spot in the Girl's High School Meet, while Clinton High earned first place in the Guy's High School Meet.
