Lady Statesmen cancel run at Brooks' Twilight Classic

CLEVELAND - Delta State University head cross country coach Doug Pinkerton announced Friday that the Lady Statesmen would not be opening up the 2009 season Saturday at the annual Brooks' Twilight Classic in Memphis, Tenn.
"Due to several key injuries and two student-athletes yet to receive approval from the NCAA Clearinghouse, we have chosen not to compete this weekend at the Brooks' Twilight Classic," stated Pinkerton.
The Lady Statesmen will officially open the 2009 season Saturday, Sept. 12, as they host the annual Delta State Cross Country Invitational. The meet is set for an early morning start on the Derrall Foreman Golf Course.
