Names and signatures keep rolling into the office of Delta State University head men's basketball coach Jason Conner.  On Tuesday, coach Conner announced the signing of Ingomar Attendance Center All-State center Zach Carnell to a National Letter of Intent.  Carnell's signing is the fourth in the current period for the Statesmen.

"Zach was one of the top post players in the state last year and he will be a great addition to the program," Conner stated.  "Zach's got great presence around the basket and had an innate ability to score from anywhere in the paint."

The 6-foot-8, 250-pound Carnell averaged 23 points and 14 rebounds per game as a senior, leading Ingomar to MHSAA Class A state championship.  Along the way, the powerful post collected postseason accolades by the truck load, garnering New Albany Gazette Player of the Year, MHSAA Division 2 - 1A Player of the Year, Most Valuable Player, MHSAA All-State, All-Union County, Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal All-Area First Team and The Clarion Ledger Honorable Mention All-State.

Carnell is also a standout Amateur Athletic Union standout, leading the North Mississippi Wildcats in rebounding all four years and earning best offensive honors as a junior and senior.  He also helped the Wildcats to a sixth place finish at the AAU National Tournament.

Carnell's name has also been one of the most discussed among the high school ranks over the last few years, garnering nation-wide attention from Lavel Johnson's "The Hoop Scoop Report."
