CLEVELAND- In only day 4 of camp for the Delta State University football team, the squad is showing great improvements as they continue to prepare for the opening bout September 4th against Jackson State. Again forced to practice under the lights of Parker Field-McCool Stadim due to heat index, that certainly did not slow the Statesmen down.
"We had great tempo today and made some great strides," DSU head coach Ron Roberts said after practice. "I really think we are moving in the right direction."
The improvement in tempo was evident as both the offense and defense were flying around during practice, and even getting testy at times.
"I really like the way the guys are competing out there," Roberts stated. "I think we are really practicing hard."
The Statesmen will again practice tomorrow at 8pm because of the heat and will have their first two-a-day practice on Saturday. The practice is free of admission and open to the public.
