DSU Swimming & Diving names Daniel Rais diving coach

Daniel Rais will coach Delta State's divers this upcoming season.

Wasting little time over the weekend, Dan'l Murray, Delta State head Swimming and Diving coach, announced the hiring of Daniel Rais to the position of diving coach on Monday.  Rais comes to DSU from Champion Gymnastics of Ann Arbor, Michigan. 

"We're excited to add a coach of Daniel's quality to the program," stated Murray.  "Coach Rais brings an intricate knowledge of gymnastics to the spot and I believe he will be able to take out diving program to the next level."

Rais, a 2008 graduate of the University of Michigan, has spent the past two years as an age group gymnastics coach at Michigan Academy of Gymnastics and most recently Champion Gymnastics of Ann Arbor, Michigan.

The Livonia, Mich., native has also worked with the Novi Community School District as a C.A.R.E. instructor and a three-year assistant at the University of Michigan Gymnastics Camp, where he instructed 4-17 year old campers in basic and advanced gymnastics. 

Rais was a four-year letter-winner for the Michigan Wolverines men's gymnastics team from 2004-2008.  While at UM, he competed in four Big Ten Conference Championships and four NCAA National Championships. 

He completed his bachelor's degree in language arts from Michigan's College of Language, Science and Arts.

Rais is a 2004 graduate of Franklin High School, where he lettered four years in diving.
