Gerald Jordan
Athletic Trainer,
M.Ed., ATC

Gerald Jordan, a native of Mountain City, Tenn., is in his third year as the Head Athletic Trainer at Delta State University. He served the previous two seasons as Assistant Athletic Trainer and as an instructor in the Athletic raining Education Program at DSU.

“We have an amazing opportunity here at Delta State University,” stated Jordan. “Our programs are top-notch and the facilities continue to grow. This really helps our Athletic Training and Sports Medicine programs grow.”

Jordan was hired in the summer of 2003 as the Assistant Athletic Trainer under Hunter Moore. Jordan, alongside former trainer Tim Colbert, Dr. Duke Barnes, Hunter Moore and the College of Education began formulating a plan to introduce Athletic Training as a major at DSU in 2003-04. “Once we are fully accredited, we will be one of two universities in the state to offer this major,” added Jordan. “This will also greatly enhance of abilities on the field and in the classroom.”

Jordan is responsible for the daily operation of the Athletic Training program and Sports Medicine wings of the Athletic Department. His duties include staff retention and development, oversight of every sports training program and methods, implementation of DSU’s Drug-Testing and Enforcement policies and procedures, and any other duties assigned by the Athletic Director.

Jordan comes to Delta State after serving as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at The Citadel in Charleston, S.C. While there his primary repsonsibilities included football and soccer. Prior to his time at The Citadel, Jordan began his Master’s work at The Pennsylvania State University in the fall of 2001, having worked with men’s soccer and women’s lacrosse.

He received his Master’s in Health Education from Pennsylvania State University in 2003. He received his Bachelor’s degree from East Tennessee State University in 2001. He is currently single and resides in Cleveland.
