Randy Grierson enters his sixth season as an assistant coach at his alma mater Delta State University. Grierson will serve as the defensive line coach in 2007 and will also serve as the Academic Coordinator for all DSU athletes.
The Pascagoula native spent four seasons as an offensive line on DSU’s squad from 1997-2000. In 2000, Grierson anchored the NCAA DII National Championship offensive line for DSU. Grierson was a starter for two and a half years and was a First Team All-Gulf South Conference selection at center in 2000. A two-time Academic All-GSC selection as well. Grierson capped off his stellar career with the ultimate team recognition. The Pascagoula native was voted a permanent "Team Captain" in 2000.
Grierson began his coaching career as a graduate assistant on former head coach Steve Campbell’s staff in 2001. Since that time Grierson has worked with the offensive line, running backs and now defensive linemen.
In May 2005, Grierson became the first “Doctor” coach on staff as he earned his Doctorate in Educational Leadership.
Grierson is married to the former Jennifer Hengst of Rolling Fork, Miss. and they currently reside in Cleveland
