Justin Whitaker holds the distinction of being Delta State University's lone individual NCAA champion after winning the 100-Backstroke title at the 2002 NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships. Whitaker's four-year career was also one of the most decorated in Statesmen swimming history, as the Humble, Texas, native earned All-American and All-New South Intercollegiate Swim Conference accolades each season.
Whitaker also claimed the NSISC's Male Swimmer of the Year in each conference championship meet from 2000-03. He graduated with every entry in the top-10 for the 100-Backstroke in Delta State history.
