- Transferred from Northwest Mississippi Community College
- Won the 200-meter dash and was part of the winning 880-meter relay team his freshman year at the state track meet
- Set the state record in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.7 seconds during his sophomore year. Was also part of the winning 800-meter relay team that season, while helping Northwest CC win the State Team Championship
- Two-year letterwinner at Delta State
- Competed in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes and the 400-meter relay event at Delta State
- Placed 4th at the NCAA National Meet in the 100-meter dash, 1979
- NCAA All-American, 1979
- Only DSU sprinter to be named an All-American
- Holds the School Record in the 100-meter event: 10.43 seconds
