Pannell, a native of Memphis, Tenn., was a four-year letterman for the Statesman Golf team from 1980-1984. The clutch performer qualified to play in every tournament during his tenure at Delta State, including three-second place finishes. He carded the lowest seasonal scoring average for a Statesman in 1981 and 1982, while being named to the All-Gulf South Conference team in 1982. He was named the Most Valuable Golfer at DSU in 1982 and 1982, while earning the Outstanding Contribution to DSU Golf Award in 1984.
Always an advocate for golf in Mississippi, Pannell has served as an officer for the Mississippi Golf Association and MS Junior Golf Association. He has played on six Mississippi Cup Teams and is currently the Mississippi 4-Ball Champion.
He has won the Cleveland Country Club 4-Ball Tournament five times and twice helped his team to the CCC 6-Man Scramble title.
