Stan Sandroni, a native of Shaw, Miss., was the voice of the Statesmen and Lady Statesmen for 17 years, including Delta State's triumphant run to three straight AIAW National Championships in women's basketball. He began calling games for Delta State during the 1971-72 season while serving as the sports director at WCLD Radio in Cleveland. He would go on to serve as the sports director/anchor/news director for Greenville's WXVT-TV. During his time at Delta State, Sandroni helped build DSU's radio presence while creating a following on the air that tuned in routinely to Statesmen and Lady Statesmen events.

Sandroni's career spanned over 40 years in the broadcast industry and included stops at Delta State and Ole Miss. The eight-time Mississippi Sportscaster of the Year spent the past 26 seasons as the sideline reporter for Rebels football and served as an analyst for men's basketball for many more on the Ole Miss Radio Network. Sandroni passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014, at the age of 64.
