Indian Bayou Classic Final Results (PDF)
DESTIN, Fla. - The Delta State Statesmen Golf team closed out the Indian Bayou Classic by shooting 13 strokes better on day two, setting Delta State (593, +17) up with a tie for third place in the North Alabama hosted event at the Indian Bayou Golf Club.
Grant Goforth (+10) led the charge for the Statesmen, shooting a 2-under par round of 70 to rebound from an 84 in the first round. Goforth's under par round was seventh best on the course and moved him into a finish for 45th place overall.
Luke Brown (+1) was the top finishing Statesmen overall after being one of two Statesmen to shoot an even par round of 72 today. Brown finished in a tie for ninth place overall.
Trey Howell (+7) also had an even-par round on Tuesday, rebounding nicely from a round of 79 on Monday. Howell finished in a tie for 29th place.
Caleb Westmoreland (+6) finished just ahead of Howell overall. Westmoreland finished in a tie for 26th after shooting a round of 76.
Justin Glenn (+12) finished out the scoring for the Statesmen in round two, shooting a 79 to finish in a tie for 62nd overall.
Justin Grice(-4), of Columbus State, won the individual competition after beating Nick Brothers (-4), of Saint Leo University, in a playoff.
North Alabama (576) claimed the team title after shooting 5-under-par as a team in round two, finishing at even par for the tournament. Saint Leo (583, +7) finished in second place while Shorter University (593, +17) finished in a tie with the Statesmen for third place overall.
The Statesmen Golf team will be back in action next weekend as the squad heads to the TVA Credit Union Classic held at Turtle Point Country Club in Killen, Ala.
