ARKADELPHIA,AR.- Coach Asa Atkinson and the Statesmen tennis team dropped their first two matches of the young season, falling 5-4 to Southwest Baptist, and 5-0 to Ouachita Baptist. 

DSU went 2-1 in doubles play, but fell 4-2 in singles action. Pascal LaPlace, and Rafael Weigand won their doubles contest by a score of 8-4. Thiago Mavion and Julian Beckensteiner also won their doubles contest 8-6 to propel the Statesmen to 2-1 doubles victory. 

Weigand, and Beckensteiner were the lone bright spots in singles play, winning 6-3, 1-6, 6-2, and 6-2, 6-1 respectively. 

The Statesmen found it hard to get going against a powerful OBU team losing in five matches, and retiring in three.
