Newly named FAR Dr. Cooper Johnson has served Delta State for over 26 years.
CLEVELAND – Delta State University Athletics will welcome a new face to the role of Faculty Athletics Representative this summer, as Dr. Cooper Johnson, Chair of Entrepreneurship in Business Technology and Professor of Management, officially takes the reins July 1.

“We’re excited to have someone of Dr. Johnson’s character and commitment to the total educational experience leading the way as our faculty representative,” stated Jeremy McClain, Director of Athletics.

Johnson succeeds Dr. Rose Strahan, who served the department faithfully for six years as FAR and Delta State for over 30 years as an administrator and professor in mathematics.

Johnson is a 1980 graduate of the University of Mississippi with a degree in management and marketing. He earned his master’s of business administration from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1983, and received his Ph.D. in management from the University of Mississippi in 1995.

In next week’s GoStatesmen.com Spotlight, Dr. Johnson, who has served DSU for 26 years, will be featured discussing the role of the FAR and what his vision is for the role of athletics at Delta State University.
