BIRMINGHAM,Ala.-Josh Gordon was named Gulf South Conference West Division Player of the Week for the third time this season after propelling the Statesmen to a 3-1 week.
The senior third baseman went a combined 6-for-11, as the Statesmen won the series 2-1 over previously No. 1 ranked Southern Arkansas.
Gordon tortured Mulerider pitching with two home runs and six RBIs.
For the week, the Vicksburg native batted .533 with seven RBI's, with one double and one triple.
Just as important, Gordon made 10 assists at third base, with no errors.
Gordon and the Statesmen will be back in action on Saturday at the Gulf South Conference Tournament in Millington, Tenn., for a 7:30 p.m. contest with Valdosta State.
