JACKSON, TENN.-The Delta State University Lady Statesmen soccer team fell 3-2 in two overtimes in their season opener versus the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma Friday afternoon. The game was played as a part of the Union University Classic, which is a four team tournament.

The Lady Statesmen (0-1) led 2-1 with under a minute remaining, but USAO (1-0-1) found the back of the net with 36 seconds remaining to send the game into overtime.

USAO put away the winner with four minutes remaining in the second overtime of the golden goal format, in which the first team to score wins.
Joy Johnson and Jaz Yacaman were the goal scorers for the Lady Statesmen. 

The Lady Statesmen will look for their first victory on Saturday, as they take on hosts Union University.

Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
