SOMERS, Wis. - For the second time this season the Delta State Lady Statesmen have had a swimmer named as Hunsaker Swimmer of the Week by CollegeSwimming.com.
Anastasia Klyarovskaya joins teammate
Melanie Tombers as award winners this season. Klyarovskaya earned the award after her record setting performance in the DSU Christmas Invitational from the DSU Aquatics Center.
"We are very proud of Anastasia and her accomplishments this season and in particular this honor," commented head coach
Dan'l Murray. "She had a great meet at the Delta State Christmas Invitational and showed her ability to compete well in individual events and perform at a very high level in the relay events. She is a strong racer and is proving to be multi event athlete, beyond her specialty in backstroke."
Anastasia Klyarovskaya, a freshman from Moscow swimming in her first meet for the Green-and-White, etched her name into the DSU record books seven times - including setting a new NCAA D-II record in the 200-Backstroke (1:56.44). Klyarovskaya set records in the 100-Backstroke (54.93) along with swimming on five record setting relay teams; 200-Freestyle Relay (1:35.67), 200-Medley Relay (1:44.04), 400-Freestyle Relay (3:30.27), 400-Medley Relay (3:48.69), and 800-Freestyle Relay (7:30.73).
"Her performances at the meet were very deserving of the NCAA Swimmer of the Week."
Delta State is off until January 4 when they visit Nova Southeastern in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. in the first meet after the new year.
