SOMERS, Wis. - For the third time this season a member of the Delta State University Swimming and Dive team has been named as Hunsaker Swimmer of the Week by CollegeSwimming.com.
Matteo Fraschi picks up his first honor after a meet from Pensacola. Fla., that saw the freshman establish a pair of school records while defeating Birmingham-Southern, Thomas (Ga.), and LaGrange College.
At the meet, Fraschi would establish a new school record in a pair of events. He would first break a one-year-old record in the 100-Breaststroke (56.87) before he would rewrite his own record in the 200-Breaststroke (2:02.77) while winning both events. Fraschi also swam the second leg of the winning 200-Medley Relay (1:33.56).
The freshman from Florence, Italy, has swam in two meets since enrolling in January, and each time out he has established a new school mark in the 200-Breaststroke.
This marks the third time that Delta State has been awarded the national swimmer of the week honors; joining Melanie Tombers and Anastasia Klyarovskaya.
Delta State returns to action as the DSU Aquatics Center will host the New South Intercollegiate Swim Conference meet beginning February 19.
