CLEVELAND - Due to dangerous afternoon heat index readings of 115 degrees plus, the No. 24 Delta State University football team was forced to an 8 p.m. practice time at Parker Field-McCool Stadium.
The Statesmen donned shoulder pads for the first time during the preseason during the over two hour practice.
"I was pleased with the tempo of practice tonight," DSU head coach Ron Roberts stated. "There were lots of positives to take away from the evening."
"We are excited to get back after it tomorrow," Roberts added.
DSU will continue fall camp on Thursday with another session in helmets and shoulder pads. Practice begins at 3 p.m. and is open to the public.
The Statesmen begin the 2010 season on Sept. 4 as they will travel to Jackson to take on the Jackson State Tigers.
