Freshman Vlad Zinca was named the Western Sizzlin’ Male Athlete of the Week for the period ending Feb. 27. He earned the Top Male Athlete Award of the NSISC conference championships scoring a maximum 60 points with his three event wins in the 200-Individual Medley, 100-Butterfly and 200-Butterfly. His win in the 100-Butterfly did so with an NCAA "A" cut time of 48.15. By securing a time under the ‘A' cut mark of 48.35, the Pitesti, Romania native is locked in to the entry list for the National Championships to be held in Mansfield, Texas in mid-March.
