Hannah Core, a freshman on the Lady Statesmen Swimming & Diving team, captures the first GoStatesmen.com Female Student-Athlete of the Week Award in her career and this year for the program after leading Delta State to a strong showing versus NCAA Division I Alabama this past weekend in the season opener.  

Core picked up a win among scoring swimmers in the 200-Individual Medley. The freshman from Gonzales, La., finished with a 2:16.32 in the event to help the Lady Statesmen finish with 85 points.  

Core and DSU return to the pool on Saturday in a dual meet at the University of Western Kentucky.
