Andrew Jones, a senior place kicker/punter on the Statesmen football team, captured this week's GoStatesmen.com Male Student-Athlete of the Week Award after nailing a game-winninng 33-yard field goal in Delta State's 38-35 come-from-behind victory Saturday at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas. Â
The Kossuth, Miss., native was also a major factor in the game after averaging 47.0 yards per punt. Â The 2011 All-Gulf South Conference and All-Super Region II selection punted five times for 235 yards, including a long of 62 yards in a key fourth quarter punt that pinned TSU deep in their own territory. Â
Jones will lead the Statesmen back onto the gridiron this Saturday, Oct. 13, as DSU welcomes West Georgia into Parker Field-McCool Stadium. Â Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. Â
