Cauê Da Silva has been named this week's Statesmen Athlete of the Week after the freshman was named to the 2012 Daktronics NCAA Division II Men's Soccer All-America Honorable Mention team last week, becoming the first Statesman in program history to be recognized by the award.
Da Silva was named to the Honorable Mention team after becoming the first Statesmen in program history to make the Daktronics All-South Region First Team. He was also the first Statesmen to be named Gulf South Conference Co-Player of the Year and GSC Freshmen of the Year.

Da Silva finished the season seventh in nation in goals and 14th in points. He led freshmen in the nation in goals and tied for first in points, while leading the GSC in points, points/game, goals, goals/game, and game-winning goals.
