Rhandi Ball., a sophomore forward on the Lady Statesmen Basketball team, has been named the GoStatesmen.com Female Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending Sunday, Jan. 27. It's Ball's second honor this season after helping the Delta State women's basketball team to a split last week in Gulf South Conference play at West Florida and Valdosta State.Â
The Pontotoc, Miss., native turned in a career-high scored 21 points and grabbed six rebounds with four assists in a huge 52-48 come-from-behind win at Valdosta State on Saturday. Â Ball was 7-of-17 from the floor and 7-of-12 from the free throw line in the win. Â The Lady Statesmen erased two double-digit deficits in the victory. Â
In Thursday's 66-51 loss at West Florida, Ball turned in a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds while handing out three assists. Â
The Lady Statesmen will return to the court on Saturday, Feb. 2 at Christian Brothers University. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. at Canale Arena in Memphis, Tenn. The Statesmen Sports Network will offer complete coverage.
