Brooke Rhodes, a junior guard for the Lady Statesmen Basketball has been named the GoStatesmen.com Female Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending Sunday, Feb. 3. It marks the first honor this season for Rhodes after helping the Delta State women's basketball team to a 54-45 victory over the Christian Brothers Lady Bucs last week.
The Pelahatchie, Miss., native scored 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting, including a big three point basket with 1:42 remaining to put the Lady Statesmen up 49-43.
The Lady Statesmen will return to the court for a pair of games this week, beginning Thursday, Feb. 7 for a matchup with the Union University Lady Bulldogs, at Walter Sillers Coliseum. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. DSU then travels to Florence, Ala., for a rematch with the North Alabama Lions. The action is set to begin at 1:00 p.m. inside Flowers Hall.
