Sam Kidd, a senior outfielder for the Delta State University Baseball team, has been named the GoStatesmen.com Male Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending Sunday, Feb. 10. Â It's Kidd's first honor this season and the first for the top-ranked Statesmen. Â
The Hartford, Ky., native helped the No. 1 ranked Statesmen to a weekend sweep of Montevallo after hitting .444 with three runs scored, a double, four walks and two RBIs. He also turned in an outfield assist and was 1-for-1 in stolen bases. Down two in the bottom fo the ninth in game three, it was Kidd's hit that jump-started the rally and eventual 9-8 win for the Statesmen.
Kidd and the Statesmen return to action on Wednesday at the University of Arkansas-Monticello before returning to Ferriss Field for a weekend series (Friday-Saturday) with No. 19 Nova Southeastern.
