Jordan Chovanec has been named this week's Statesmen Male Athlete of the Week for his performance last week in four games against Union and Southern Arkansas.

Chovanec had a huge week at the plate for the Statesmen, recording multiple hits in every game this week. In all, Chovanec hit .529 on the week, going 9-for-17and added a walk for an on-base percentage of .556.

Chovanec hit his first home run of the season and fourth of his career with a two-run shot to deep right center at Union. The junior had two hits in each of his first three games this week and finished the week off with a three-hit performance that included two more RBIs. Chovanec finished with five RBIs total and scored four runs. The Inez, Texas native also had two stolen bases.

Chovanec and the Statesmen will return to action with midweek games at Ouachita Baptist on Tuesday and Wednesday before hosting West Georgia this weekend.
