Dex Herrington, a senior outfielder on the Statesmen baseball team, has been named the GoStatesmen.com male Student-Athlete of the Week. Â Earlier in the week, Herrington was named Gulf South Conference Player of the Week.
Herrington, an outfielder from Senatobia, Miss., went 6-for-10 (.600) with a home run, two doubles and three RBI this past week against GSC foe North Alabama to lead the Statesmen to the series victory. In the series he scored five runs while walking two times. One of his six hits included his first home run as a member of DSU.
Herrington leads the team in many offensive categories; including batting average (.394), slugging percentage (.606), runs scored (10), doubles (4), and total bases (20).
