Junior Reed Lindsey is this week's GoStatesmen.com Athlete of the Week after claiming medalist honors at the 26th Derrall Foreman Intercollegiate last weekend at the Clevelend Country. The Ripley, Mississippi, native carded 16-under par 200 over 54-holes to win the tournament. Â Lindsey had a two-under par 70 and a seven-under 65 after 36 holes on Friday and remained hot with a final round seven-under 65. Â
The Statesmen had an amazing weekend too, erasing a 13-stroke deficit in the final round to win the team title. Â Delta State shot a 19-under par 557 after 36 holes on Friday, trailing Missisisippi Gulf Coast Community College, heading into Saturday's final round. Â The Statesmen not only erased the deficit on Saturday but won the tournament by 10 strokes, firing a 20-under 268 to finish 39-under 825 both tournament records.Â
