Kaitlin Moore, a junior on the Lady Statesmen softball team, has been named the CableOne GoStatesmen.com Female Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending Monday, April 27.
The two-time All-Gulf South Conference performer led the Lady Statesmen to their only victory of the weekend, a 1-0 win in game two of the series at the University of West Florida on Sunday. The Southaven, Miss., native slammed her fourth home run of the year in the top of the first inning and the Lady Statesmen made it stand up for the win.
Moore leads Delta State into the Gulf South Conference Tournament this Thursday, as the No. 6 seed. The Lady Statesmen face No. 3 seed North Alabama in the tournament's first game at 10 a.m. DSu and UNA did not play their regular season series due to weather.
