Katie Justice, a sophomore on the Delta State softball team, captures her first CableOne Female Student-Athlete of the Week award after leading the Lady Statesmen to a pair of wins at the Gulf South Conference-Peach Belt Conference Crossover Tournament this past weekend in Columbus, Georgia.
The Jasper, Ala., native went 2-0 with a 0.50 ERA in a pair of starts for the Lady Statesmen. In a 3-2 win over defending NCAA DII national champion North Georgia, Justice threw a complete game, allowing two runs on six hits with three walks and a pair of strikeouts.
She followed up that performance with a complete game shutout in a 3-0 victory over Augusta State. In 7.0 innings pitched, she allowed four hits with two walks and a strikeout.
In 14.0 innings over the weekend, Justice stranded 21 runners on base and opponents' managed a .185 average against her at the plate.
