Melanie Tombers, a junior on the Delta State Women's Swimming & Diving team, claims her second CableONE Female Student-Athlete of the Week honor after leading the Lady Statesmen to a second place finish at the New South Intercollegiate Swim Conference Championships.

The Dusseldorf, Germany native won three NSISC championships during the four-day event. In Saturday's NSISC finale, Tombers swam an impressive 16:51.97 in the 1650-Freestyle to win her third event of the championships. She also won the 500-Freestyle in 5:01.89, and the 400-IM in a time of 4:24.93.

Tombers and her fellow teammates will begin preparations for the NCAA Championships in March. The NCAA will announce the field of competitors for this year's championship later this week.
