Mari Alex Sandridge, a freshman pitcher and outfielder for the Delta State softball team, has been named CableOne Gostatesmen.com Female Athlete of the Week. 
 
Sandridge helped guide the Lady Statesmen to their first Gulf South Conference series sweep of the season on Saturday, March 4, and Sunday, March 5.
 
The freshman right-handed pitcher from Hernando, Miss., pitched the entire seven innings in Delta State’s 4-0 win against Union in game one, sacrificing only four hits, earning her second career shutout. At the plate, Sandridge finished the weekend 4-for-7 with two RBIs and scored four runs.
  
DSU continues its home stand with a three-game series against Gulf South Conference rival West Georgia beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 11.
