Mari Alex Sandridge a freshman pitcher and outfielder for the Delta State softball team, has been named CableOne Gostatesmen.com Female Athlete of the Week for the third time this season.

In the circle, Sandridge held the UWF Argonauts to only four hits and three runs in Delta State's 7-3 win over UWF on Saturday, April 15. She did not give up a hit in until the bottom of the fifth inning in Saturday's win. Sandridge also saw action in the circle on Friday, April 14. She was the only Lady Statesman pitcher not to give up a run during Friday's doubleheader, sacrificing three hits in three innings of work.

At the plate, Sandridge finished the weekend 1-for-7 and scored two runs. She had four RBIs over the weekend, including a three-RBI double in Delta State's 7-3 win over West Florida on April 15.

Sandridge leads the Lady Statesmen in slugging percentage (.562), on base percentage (.462), runs (24), RBIs (26), home runs (six), and walks (14). In the circle, she boasts the lowest ERA of the team (2.06) and holds opponents to a .212 batting average. Â

The Lady Statesmen will be back in action this weekend as they host Valdosta State University for a three-game series at University Field beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 22, at 1 p.m. and concluding with a single game on Sunday, April 23, at 12 p.m. At 12:40 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, the Lady Statesmen will honor six senior members of the squad for Senior Day.
