Jasmine McGill, a freshman on the Lady Statesmen soccer team, has been named the CableOne GoStatesmen.com Female Athlete of the Week after scoring three goals on the weekend.
McGill, a Memphis, Tenn., native, scored in the 90th minute against Lee University, marking just the second time that the Lady Statesmen have scored a goal against the Lady Flames in their last five meetings.
McGill followed Friday night's goal with a two-goal effort against the Shorter Hawks on Sunday, helping the Lady Statesmen to their first conference win of the season. McGill's second goal, an 87th minute tally, marks the latest game winner for Delta State since last season.
The Lady Statesmen are back in action on Sept. 22, when they travel to Valdosta, Ga. to take on Valdosta State, and on Sept. 24, when they visit West Florida in Pensacola, Fla.
