Delta State swimmer, Giulio Brugnoni, has been tabbed the CableOne GoStatesmen.com Male Athlete of the Week for the first time this year.
The freshman helped guide the Statesmen to victory against two of three opponents at the Lindenwood Quad Meet in St. Peters, Mo., from Oct. 20-21. Brugnoni breezed through the competition with a win in the 200-Backstroke versus Missouri S&T on Friday, Oct. 20, and won the 100-Backstroke on Saturday. He also led-off the Statesmen's victorious 200 medley relay to start the meet and was a member of their runner-up 200-Free relay.Â
A native of Perugia, Italy, Brugnoni remains unbeaten this season in backstroke events and holds the fastest time in Division II in the 100-Backstroke.
Brugnoni and the Statesmen return to action Oct. 28, when they compete against Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Ga.
