This week’s CableOne GoStatesmen.com Female Athlete of the Week is Nicole Fullilove of the Lady Statesmen softball team.
Fullilove, a junior from Batesville, Miss., spun a gem against Rollins College as Delta State defeated the Tars 3-2 in 10 innings. Fullilove went the distance, allowing just four hits and two runs (none earned), while walking just two and striking out six.
Fullilove became the first Delta State pitcher since Edie Oliver in 2010 to throw 10 or more innings in a game.
The Central Arkansas transfer also pitched five innings of DSU's 4-3 win over Young Harris College, allowing seven hits and two runs (none earned) while striking out three Mountain Lion hitters.
The Lady Statesmen are scheduled to travel to Huntsville, Ala., for the UAH Charger Chillout for six games in three days. DSU is scheduled to open play on Friday, Feb. 9 with Missouri-St. Louis and Palm Beach Atlantic. The games are scheduled for 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. CT.
