Delta State University men’s swimmer Giulio Brugnoni was named a Guaranty Bank Featured Athlete of the Week after he had three individual wins and was part of three winning relay teams as the Statesmen sweep two weekend meets against Rhodes College.

Brugnoni won the 100 yard backstroke in 48.04, and also grabbed a win in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 1:53.03. He grabbed his third event win in the 100 butterfly with a 47.65. 

As part of the 200 yard freestyle relay, Brugnoni swam a 20.30 leadoff leg to help DSU to a 1:22.05. He was also part of DSU’s 400 yard freestyle relay win, and swam the leadoff leg of Delta State’s 200 yard medley relay victory. 

The Statesmen return to the pool on Saturday, Jan. 30 as they host Rhodes College for senior day at the Ronald G. Mayers Aquatic Center.
