Delta State University Lady Statesmen softball player Summer Cryder was named a Guaranty Bank Featured Athlete of the Week after she hit .583 in four games at the University of Alabama in Huntsville Charger Chillout.

Cryder, a Tupelo, Miss. native, started all four games of the Charger Chillout and belted three home runs for the Lady Statesmen. She also drove in eight runs on seven hits, and scored six runs as well.

She also registered a double and a triple, walked five times, and was 2-for-3 on stolen base attempts. In Delta State’s 9-8 win over Shorter to clinch a 4-0 performance at the Chillout, Cryder was 2-for-4 with a double and a two-run home run.

The 4-0 mark for the weekend was the Lady Statesmen's first sweep of the Chillout in 10 seasons and was their best finish since 2015 when they left the Chillout with a record of 5-1.

The Lady Statesmen return to the diamond on Friday, Feb. 19 and Saturday, Feb. 20 as the travel to Clinton, Miss. to take on Mississippi College.
