Delta State University baseball player Blayke Dendy was named one of DSU's Guaranty Bank Featured Athletes of the Week after he hit .529 (9-for-17) this past week against the University of Arkansas at Monticello and the University of Alabama in Huntsville.Â
Dendy started the week in a narrow defeat against the Boll Weevils by going 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored. Dendy added a solo home run for the Statesmen, his fourth of the year.Â
In game one of the weekend against the Chargers, Dendy turned in a 2-for-5 performance with a run and four RBI. He clubbed his fifth home run of the season, and added a two-RBI single in the first inning for the Statesmen.
Dendy also went 3-for-4 in game two of the weekend with an RBI double and two runs scored, and added a base hit in game three of the weekend for the Statesmen.Â
The Green and White hit the road for the regular season finale, as the Statesmen travel to Clinton, Miss. to take on the Mississippi College Choctaws on Friday, April 30 at 6 p.m. The two teams follow with a doubleheader on Saturday, May 1 at 1 p.m.
