Delta State University women's soccer player Mia Ramirez was named a Guaranty Bank Featured Student-Athlete of the Week after she helped lead the Lady Statesmen to a 6-1 win over Shorter.

Ramirez scored in the 31st minute and the 38th minute for the Lady Statesmen as DSU built a 5-0 halftime lead, and ultimately to a 6-1 win over the Hawks.

The 6-1 win was the most goals scored in a Gulf South Conference game in school history for Delta State, and it was also the most goals scored against Shorter. The previous high was five, set in 2012.

Delta State is back on the road on Friday, Oct. 1 at 5:00 p.m. at the travel to Livingston, Alabama to take on the University of West Alabama.
