Delta State blanks CBU 1-0, earn first GSC win

CLEVELAND- The Lady Statesmen have exploded on offense in the last four games, picking up their fourth consecutive win Wednesday afternoon, 1-0 over Christian Brothers University to open up conference action. The Lady Statesmen are 7-3-2 (1-0) on the season while the Lady Bucs fall to 6-3-1 (0-2).

After a scoreless first half, Delta State was outshot 6-1 in that period. Sarah Prevost did her part by making five saves to keep the game at a deadlock.

Things quickly turned in favor of the home team, who have won five of their last seven games. Lacy Mixon who made some good offensive runs all afternoon came through in the clutch with her second goal on the season, coming off a corner kick sent in by Erin Smith. That was enough to get the win has the defense took over, not allowing a single shot in the second half.

The Lady Statesmen are on the road this Friday as they travel to Carrolton, GA to take on the University of West Georgia. Kick-off is set for 4 p.m.
