MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Lady Statesmen, looking for their third win in row, fell short Friday afternoon as they dropped their third game in the last five to Montevallo 5-1. Delta State falls to 9-5-2 and 3-2 in GSC play while the Falcons improve to 7-3-3, 3-0-1 in conference play. 

The Lady Statesmen made a game of it in the first half only trailing by one following two goals midway through the first half. Ashley Cechovsky scored the goal in the wide open net to keep the visitors within one. 

Montevallo closed the door for any comeback with a three goal performance in the second half from Kami Kapaku. 

The Lady Statesmen finished the game with seven shots to Montevallo's 23. Keeper Sarah Prevost finished with seven saves on the day. 

The Lady Statesmen remain on the road this Sunday as they take on West Florida in Pensacola, Florida. Kick-off is set 12:30 p.m.
