ITA BENA, Miss- The Lady Statesmen picked up their second win in a row, and extend their unbeaten streak to four games following a 2-1 win over Division I Mississippi Valley State Friday night. Lady Statesmen as they improve to 6-2-2 on the year.

Erin Smith gave the Lady Statesmen the early advantage with a penalty kick at the three minute mark. After the break Ashley Cechovsky doubled the lead with a goal just five minutes into the second half, a heads up play to get a shot in after a rebound from the previous corner kick.

Kate Johnston erased the shutout with a goal at the 57 minute to cut the deficit to 2-1.

Keeper Sarah Prevost racked up four saves in the win.

The Lady Statesmen open up conference play at home against Christian Brothers University. Kick-off is set for 1 p.m.
