Little's two-run homer propel Statesmen past Harding 17-0

CLEVELAND- The Delta State University baseball team (20-10, 7-0 GSC) continued its stellar play in the Gulf South Conference West Division defeating Harding 17-0 in the opening game of a three-game series Saturday afternoon at Ferriss Field. The Bisons (18-17, 3-4) managed just four hits on the day.

The Statesmen scored in every inning, but the second - scoring five runs in the first and fifth innings. 

Delta State scored five runs off three hits in the first, capped by a two-run single by Josh Gordon

Matthew Little (4) homered in the third with a runner on first to extend their lead to 7-0. The Statesmen would plate 10 more in the middle innings to seal the win. 

Korey Cunningham (4-2) pitched a complete game, throwing seven innings and giving up four hits while striking out nine. 

Troy Keith (4-4) took the loss pitching three innings, while giving up seven runs on five hits. 

Four Statesmen plated three runs on the day, led by Gordon who finished 3-for-4 with a run scored. Clay Sartain, Kellen Bozeman, Anthony Palasini and Little all finished with multiple hits on the day. 

The series will conclude Sunday afternoon. First pitch for the doubleheader is set for 1 p.m.
